Bradley Beal’s first free agency didn’t last long and he’s headed to one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
Beal agreed to a two-year deal with a player option to join the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2025-26 season. He is expected to start for LA at the two-guard, between perennial All Stars James Harden and Kawhi Leonard.
The Clippers opened the brand new Intuit Dome in Inglewood last season, one of the most fan friendly arenas in the world with an excellent 50-win season, but were ousted by the Denver Nuggets at the end of a knock-down, drag-out seven games series.
Signing Brad is one of several moves LA has made to try to advance on that performance last season. They also added veteran big man Brook Lopez in free agency, traded for John Collins and most recently brought back veteran point guard Chris Paul to join the backcourt.
Coach Tyronn Lue is especially excited about what Brad brings to the team.
“Players of this caliber are very rare, and they’re hard to come by,” Lue said in a statement. “He’s been the best player on his team. You can put him in so many different spots and he’ll find ways to score: out of pick-and-roll, coming off screens, catch-and-shoot. He can create his own or he can play off the ball. He’s a great cutter. He’s also a great playmaker who is going to make everybody else better.”
